Chitosan stabilized CoFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles as catalyst in luminol chemiluminescence and its applications to H2O2 detection

CoFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were stabilized by chitosan (CS) to form CS-CoFe2O4 nanocompounds and further used as catalyst in luminol chemiluminescence (CL) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide under alkaline condition. Compared with the free CoFe2O4 nanoparticles, the CS stabilized CoFe2O4 MNPs could greatly enhance the CL of the luminol-hydrogen peroxide system. The CL intensity of the studied CL system was proportional to concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the range from 1.0×10-9 to 6.0×10-6 mol L.1. The proposed method has been used for the determination of hydrogen peroxide in real water samples.d
