Serum metabolomics study on colorectal cancer by ESI (±)-FTICR MS

Colorectal cancer (CRC) has attracted an increasing attention due to its common worldwide distribution and leading cause of death. Metabolomics, which is characterized by a large number of molecules exhibiting a high diversity of chemical structures and abundances, is currently being used as a mode of research in many disciplines of medicine. With accurate mass measurement with even sub-ppm errors and also ultra-high resolving power, FTICR MS has become a popular analytical platform. This study contributed to reveal some metabolomics perturbation in CRC patients by ESI ( ± )-FTICR MS to assist the interpretation of physiopathological mechanism of this disease and maybe aid in future clinical diagnosis.
