Symbolism in American Beauty :A Setniotic Study of the Meanings Represented by Roses
American Beauty is a movie depicting two American middle class dysfunctional families. Lester Burnham, the 42 year old magazine editor, becomes tired of his dull, routine existence and he is charmed by his daughter”s high school friend Angela. This fascination inspires him to make some major changes in his life. He cherishes these changes, which however exasperate his wife Carolyn, who pursues material success. Their daughter Jane is liked by the mysterious boy next door Ricky, whose father Colonel Fitts is a homophobia.
