A Study on an Efficiency of Saturator in DAF Process Through the DO Measurement with the Oxygen Scavenger

Dissolved air flotation (DAF) is one of the pretreatment processes for supporting stable water in the desalination plants using by the reverse osmosis (RO). It is important that the components, such as particles, oils, algae, and so on, in the feed water have to be removed effectively in the DAF process, because the materials can cause a fouling of RO membranes. Especially, to operate effectively the DAF process, it should make a high saturation efficiency of a pressure tank to maximize dissolved air into the seawater. The study was performed to measure the efficiency of a saturator vessel with the oxygen scavenger (sodium bisulfite, NaHSO3) under the pressure, which react with dissolved oxygen to form sulfate, through the bench and pilot test.
