Steel Plate Maker Experience in Selecting and Supplying Materials for Desalination Industry
The evolution of seawater desalination processes and the technical-economic requirements related to investment, operation and maintenance of facilities requires close collaboration between engineering and metallurgists for selecting the most efficient materials. A wide range of corrosion resistant steels can be considered, including duplex grades that proved to be a material of choice for this application. The criteria for selecting the stainless steels for various equipments in the construction of desalination plants since 2000 are collated and explained within the frame of the experience of the steel supplier.
