Visualization & Quantification: Internal Structure of the DDS and Release Kinetics of TCM Dosage Forms with the Multiple Components

Aims: The visualization techniques are especially of importance in analysis for the release kinetics of either drug delivery system (DDS) with complex internal structure or that of a natural product as Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) dosage form with multiple components. Though the internal structural characteristics of an osmotic pump DDS are obviously relevant to the release kinetics, yet the quantitative methodology for correlation of structural parameters with release kinetics should be developed with the aid of visualization techniques. We also tried to establish a visualized procedure to overview and quantify the multiple component release kinetics of the TCM dosage forms, which are beyond of the conventional dissolution / release methods.
