Effect of Sevoflurane Combination with Epidural Anesthesia on Myocardial Injury in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease Undergoing Non-cardiac Surgery

Contemporary medicine shows a trend towards more aggressive surgery in sicker patients, among whom the prevalence of ischemic heart disease is increasing1. As the number of patients suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD) increases, and the number of patients with CAD undergoing non-cardiac surgery is also increasing. Patients with CAD who undergo surgery are more at risk for perioperative cardiovascular morbidity and mortality than patients without CAD, because their reserves to withstand the stress of the induction of anesthesia and surgery are reduced2-3. Therefore, how to effectively improve perioperative myocardial injury, especially in patients with CAD, has become increasingly important.
