Analgesic effect of the cold-menthol receptor TRPM8 in chronic arthritis rats
The treatment of chronic pain has been the difficulty of the diagnosis and treatment of clinical pain. Cold stimulus can alleviate chronic pain and avoid the side effects of analgesic drugs. However, excessive cold can evoke pain and induce hypercryalgesia. Transient receptor potential(TRP) channel, the research hotspot in recent years, which plays an important role in chronic pain, is an important kind of cation channel located on cell membrane. TRPM8(transient receptor potential cation channel, subfamily M, member 8,TRPM8),a member of TRP channel family, mainly expresses in primary afferent sensory neurons such as trigeminal ganglion(TG), dorsal root ganglion(DRG),and also in prostate and some tumors”1”.It is activated by cool compounds such as menthol, icilin, and by temperature below 28°C”2”.The identification of TRPM8,produces profound, novel methods to relieve pain.
