Use of PRP in orthopedic surgical fields
Although the role of PRP in tissue healing is well known but its role in the science of orthopaedics is still under research and poorly understood. In 1990, Gibble and Ness introduced autologous fibrin glue. Therapeutic role of PRP came into picture as rich sources of tissue regenerating growth factors. Before the introduction of PRP recombinant human growth factors were under research but because of its short life span and cost PRP gained popularity over that. PRP is an easy, cost effective way to get high concentration of tissue growth factors.
