Eu2+ , Pr3+ co-doped Li2SrSiO4 phosphors for white LEDs

Eu2+, Pr3+ co-doped Li2SrSiO4 yellow-red phosphors were prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction method and their photoluminescence properties were systematically investigated. The addition of Pr3+ into Li2SrsiO4: Eu2+ phosphors resulted in the enhancement of red spectral emission at around 610 nm due to 3P0-3H6 and ”D1-3H4 transitions. Therefore, dual emission of yellow and red spectral component with a single excitation wavelength was observed from LiSisiO4 0.0055Eu2+, xPr3+ (x = 0.002, 0.004, 0.006, 0.008 and 0.01) with optimum x vatue 0:004. The synergistic effect arising from Eu2+ and Pr3+ co-doping in Li2SrSiO4 host is attributed to the strong energy transfer between Eu2+ and Pr3+.
