Analysis of Catheterization site in 320 peritoneal dialysis patients
Peritoneal dialysis has been anaccepted mode of renal replacement therapy for acute orchronic renal failure, and it is important to keep thedialysis catheter unblocked in peritoneal dialysis. Therehad been 320 patients underwent continuous ambulatoryperitoneal dialysis (CAPD) since 2000 in our hospital, and X-ray examination taken two weeks after peritonealdialysis revealed catheter migration in 26 out of 204patients (8.13%). In this paper we reviewed and analyzedthe treatment measures for catheter migration. MethodsOf the 320 chronic renal failure patients, there were 186male patients and 134 female patients, with mean age of45.25a:13.26, and there were 202 cases with chronicnephritis, 52 cases with hypertensive renal arteriolarsclerosis, 44 cases with diabetic nephropathy, 12 caseswith chronic pyelonephritis, and 10 cases with otherprimary diseases. CAPD was performed using thedouble-cuff permanent Tenchoff peritoneal catheters, which were placed (1) using a peritoneoscope to guidethe catheter into the abdominal cavity in 26 patients; and(2) under direct surgical vision and local anesthesia in294 patients. Patients stated with intermittent peritonealdialysis and switched gradually to continuousambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
