The interventional effect on iron accumulation of C6 glioma cells by Baicalin
Extensive iron deposition has been demced in the brains of Parkinson’S disease(PD)patients, and a few animal experiments have reported the iron chelator has significant effect 0n PD animal. The present study investigated the relationship between Baicalin-iron chelating and neuroprotective effect。and to explore the protective effect of Dopamine(DA)neurons and the mechanism of reducing the iron accumulation of substantia nigra(SN)in PD animals.C6 glioma cells survival rates were decreased for iron-loaded,and in addition, there were much iron acc啪ulation in cells, and enhanced lipid peroxidation. The latter two were the major cause of cell death.Baicalin(BI)and Ferric Ammonium Citrate(FAC)alleviated the iron accumulation in C6 cells.10wered the death rates, and had a protective effects on the C6 cells. They also reduced the coment of Malondialdehyde(MDA)in C6 and decreased the comem of Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)in the conditioned medium. These results indicate that baicalin strongly inhibits lipid peroxidatiOn via a combination of chelation and renduces the content of iron in C6 cells, lowers lipid peroxidation, then it has protective effect on nerve cell.
