Tectonic nature and timing of HP and UHT pelitic granulites from the Khondalite Belt in the North China Craton
The east-west-trending Khondalite Belt is considered as a Paleoproterozoic continent-continent collisional beltalong which the Yinshan Block in the north collided with the Ordos Block in the south to form the Westem Block. The belt is unique because it contains both high-pressure (HP) and ultrahigh temperature (UHT) pelitic granulites, though the dominant rocks in the belt are medium- to low-pressure pelitic granulites. Metamorphic andgeochrono/ogical studies indicate that the HP and UHT pelitic granulites from the Khondalite Belt did not resultfrom a single metamorphic event, but formed under different tectonic settings at different times.
