The present condition and management direction around Seoul City Wall

摘要：

1. History of Seoul city wall Seoul city wall is the rampart that enclosed the capital of Joseon Dynasty founded by the firsl king Taejo. He set up a agency called Doseoungjochukdogam (1395) and later its wall was designed by it and built under the direction of the King (1396). Seoul city wall was made along the ridges of four inner mountains around Seoul, its capital (The Mt. Baekak-san,Nak-san, Inwang-san, Nam-san). The city wall had four main gates and four small ones in all direction. Since the city wall was erected, during the period of the dynasty the additional constructions were carried out several times and also the wall was repaired often.
