The Effects of rTMS Combined with Body-Weight-Supported Treadmill Training in Patients with Chronic Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury
Purpose Spinal cord injury (SCI) results in reduced locomotor function and negatively affects the muscle strength. This study aimed to conduct a pilot study of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS) combing with Body-Weight-Supported Treadmill Training(BWSTT) in patients with incomplete SCI, and to assess its safety. The patients were assessed using electrophysiological, clinical and functional measures before and after treatment and during a 3-week follow-up period. We also use functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) to study if an association exists between changes in cortical sensorimotor representations within cortical sensorimotor areas and recovery of movement after the intervention.
