Grammatical Impairments in Developmental Syndromes: an Experimental and Theoretical Overview
Language is the major cognitive system that seems to distinguish humans from other species, and visible breakdown of language is often the first visible indication of a developmental disorder. Given that the precise trajectory of language development is known in typically developing children, comparative research into linguistic impairments in disorders will not only allow for elucidation of genes involved in language development, but also for language-based diagnostics for the disorders as well as improved therapies.
