Language Properties and Their Correlations
Chomsky has consistently claimed that human language displays the following properties: (A) recursion, (B) discreteness, (C) dislocation, and (D) -feature Agreement. Recently, he boils down all the unique properties of human languages into (A) i.e. recursion, and categorizes (C) and (D) as the due imperfection of CHL. The property of recursion has been studied in quite a number of languages such as English, Russian, Japanese, French and Pariah, in connection with iteration in some, in distinction from iteration in others. However, not much has been investigated for the correlation among the observed properties.
