A Principles and Parameters (P&P) Approach to the Distribution of Frequency Phrases (FP) and Duration Phrases (DrP) in Chinese
Studies on Frequency Phrases (FP) and Duration Phrases (DrP) in Chinese have shown that FPs and DrPs are adjuncts to V’ and their distribution is closely related to the kind of objects that follow. Consider the following example: (1) ta ma-le san ci ren. he scold-LE three times person He scolded people three times. (2) *ta ma-le ren san ci. he scold-LE person three times (3) ta ma-le na-ge ren san ci.
