The effect of acute and chronic allergen challenge in a new mouse model of allergic asthma

Background: Existing asthmatic murine models develop tolerance when repetitively exposed to the same allergen. However, patients with asthma are chronically exposed to more than one allergen. Because asthma is a complex multifactorial disease, it is unlikely that an animal model for asthma challenged by a single allergen really reflects all of the morphological and functional features of the chronic human disease.
