Mineral Brucite and Magnesia Used for Catalytic Ozonation Degradation of Organic Pollutants: A Short Review
Natural mineral brucite and its calcined products magnesia have been proposed as ine-xpensive and environment friendly catalysts for ozonation degradation of organic po-llutants including active brilliant red dye X-3B,nitrobenzene,aniline and phenol.In this paper,two catalysts were compared and the catalysis mechanisms were discus-sed together. On this basis,the application scopes of two alkali mineral catalysts were given: brucite is fit for catalytic ozonation degradation of organic pollutant-s which have protonic acid structures and could be easily oxidation degraded by mol-ecular ozone,and magnesia has catalysis to ozonation degraded of organic pollutant-s which could be rapidly oxidation degradation by hydroxyl radicals.
