Preparation and Properties of Quasi-solid Polymer Electrolytes Based on PVDF/PMMA/TiO2 Blend for Dye-sensitized Solar Cells
It is known that Poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) is photochemically stable even in the presence of TiO2 and Pt nanoparticles and poly(methacrylate)(PMMA) has good solvent retention. In this study, the quasi-solid electrolytes based on PVDF-PMMA blend polymer were prepared by soaking a porous membrane in an organic electrolyte solution containing the I-I3-redox couple. An amount of TiO2 nanoparticles and propanetriol was added to improve gel polymer electrolyte. The amount of propanetriol and the dispersion method of TiO2 nanoparticles added in polymer were studied. It was found that the additive enhanced not only the conductivity and the diffusion performance of triiodide in the quasi-solid-state PVDF/PMMA based gel electrolyte, but also the photovoltaic performance of the corresponding quasi-solid-state DSSCs.
