Effect of Ozygen Coverage on Methane Activation Pathways on Supported Platinum Clusters
Conversion ofnatural gas with C02,H2O,and O2 co-reactants over supported Ni,Pt,Rh,and Ru metalclusters are effective mutes toward production ofhydrogen and synthesis gas.Despite many researchefforts,the fundamemal kinetics associated withthesereactions remains controversial and oftencontradictory.The high temperatures required forthese reactions often lead to rate measurementscorrupted by inherent transport artifacts andthermodynamic equilibrium that arenon-representative of chemical dynamics.Wei andIglesia proposed reaction pathways for methanereaction with steam mad C02 on supported metalclusters by rate measurements which rigorouslyeliminate transport artifacts and correct turnoverratesfor the approach to equilibrium of the endothermicreforming reactions.
