SOLAR THERMAL ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRESS BETWEEN 1980-2004
Solar thermal electric (S1”E) power technology has received substantial development attention sincethe early 1970s. Government energy research programs in the developed countries have investedseveral billions of dollars (U.S. equivalent) over the past three decades aimed at its advancement andcommercial introduction. U.S. development efforts in these technologies were particularly strongduring the 1980s, and resulted in deployment of a significant amount of experimental andcommercial hardware during that decade.
