Transcategorization in Grammatical Metaphor and Lezical Metaphor

Introduction: categories, categorization andtranscategorizationHalliday and Matthiessen (1999), Halliday (1994),Halliday (2004a)and Thompson(1996)) discuss grammatical metaphor as amode of expression beyond the clause. They all touched upon therelation between grammatical metaphor and lexical metaphor. Lakoff and Johnson(1980) studiesmetaphor as a cognitive device, with basicallylexical metaphors as data.A category is ”a group of people or things that all have the sameparticular qualities” .
