SNP Discovery, Linkage Mapping and Association Analysis of FGF5 Gene in the Pig
Vnsfibroblast growth factor 5 (FGFS) gene has been identified as a promising candidate genes associated with hair length in several domestic animals. In this study, SNP discovery, linkage mapping and association analysis of FGF5 was completed in the pig. One synonymous SNP Leu10 Leu within FGF5 didn”t show association with hair length, but it was significantly with meat quality traits. The identification of additional SNP in FGFS and genotyping in enlarged pig populations with distinguished hair length are warranted in the next work.
