Practical physical metallurgy of niobium in ferritic stainless steels
17%-1l9% Cr ferritic stainless steels,as durable material,have been used widely. In view ofcorrosion resistance. pitting e”rrasian,rusting and stress corrosion etc. are very important,neutral chloride media. Iu view of improving the corrosion resistance,it is necessary to furtherreduce the amount of carbon and nitrogen and to increase the amount of niobium ar titanium inorder to enhance intergranular crnxosion resistance on the basis of SUS430. For the special requirements of different applications,the better corrosion resistance will be obtained by addingmolybdenum,copper,nickel or chrome in certain environment. But the cast of this research workshould be evaluated strictly,since its main purpose is to develop a new kind of steel.
