Development of High Performance Steel Plates at China Steel
To meet the growing demands of cost saving, weight reduction, and safety increase from end users, high performance steel plates featuring an optimized balance of strength, toughness, manufac-turability ( weldability and formability, etc. ) and/or applicability ( earthquake resistance and fire resistance) to ensure the components to be manufactured economically have been produced at China Steel Corp. in recent years. This paper will review the development of the high performance steel plates at China Steel Corp.,including thermo-mechanical controlled processing (TMCP) steels, such as high heat input welding steel, API X70, fire resistant steel, ULCB steel, and non-TMCP low yield strength steel.
