Research and Development of Strip Casting Process in Baosteel
Strip casting process is praised as one of the most innovative progress that was achieved in the 20th century in metallurgy industry. The research and development status of twin-roll strip casting technology in Baosteel are summarized in this paper. Baosteel strip casting pilot plant has been put into operation since April 2003 . The test steel grade is AISI 304 stainless steel at first. Major problems, such as skull, scum, surface crack are being solved step by step by the key technologies through a number of cast trials. Low carbon steel will be tested in the future.
