Current Status of Immunothcrapy of Chronic Infections With Special Reference to Hepatitis B
Immunotherapy refers to the treatment of diseases by manipulating the patient”s immune systcm．It has been most commonly used for the treatment of malignancies such as melanoma．However,the conceptsdeveroped through the study of cancer immunology are g-enerally applicable to the study of chronic infections．The basic premise is that chronic diseases often occur as a result of deficicncy in the immune system．Therefore，the major aim of immunotherapy is toidentify immunological defects and find ways to remedy them．
