Phi Iinopsides A and B, Two New Sulfated Saponins from the Sea Cucumber Pentacta quadrangularis

Two new sulfated saponins, philinopsides A and B, have been isolated from the sea cucumberPentacta quadrangular is. Their structures wereestablished by a combination of NMR (600 MHZ)spectroscopic analyses and chemical transformations.As a part of our ongoing investigation on biologically active triterpene glycosides fromsea cucumbers, we decided to focus our attention on the saponins of the South China sea cucumberPentacta Quadrangularis, collected near Guangdong province.
