Bioactive products from microorganisms isolated from marine environments
Our research group has focused on discovery ofbioactive compounds from microorganisms. Since inmost cases such producing microorganisms wereisolated from soil, we became interested in isolatingmicroorganisms from samples collected in marineenvironments. In this symposium, our experienceregarding new bioactive products from microorganismsisolated from marine environments will be presented.A new 12-membered macrolide termed cladospolide D was isolated along with the knowncladospolides A and B from the culture broth of fungus Cladosporium sp. FT-0012. The strainwas isolated from a sponge sample. Among the three compounds, cladospolide D showed the mostpotent antifungal activity against Pyricularia oryzae and Mucor racemosus with IC50 values of 122.
