From Single-Molecule Magnet towards Single-Chain Magnet: a 1D Hydrogen Bonds Organization of Vertez-shared Dicubane-based, Heptanuclear Cobalt Cluster.
Recently several directions are being considerably” pursued in the research of SMMs, one of the mostimportant directions in this research has been found that the inter-molecuiar interaction and correlationamong SMM molecules, which perttFrb the intrinsic properties of individual SMMs and will further revealthe unique behavior of anisotropic spins. Among them, studies of weakly correlated and interacting Ibsystems are quite interesting and might create new materials intermediate between 5MM and SCM.Herein, we introduced the anion of 2(hydroxymethyl)-quinvlin-8-of (hmq) to serve as a chelating ligandsto construct new CoⅡ4O4 cube-based cluster and reported a novel vertex-shared dicubane Co(Ⅱ) cluster”Co7(bhqe)3(OH)2(H20)6”·2C2H5OH·H2O(1), which features an unusual 1D hydrogen-bondedorganization(Figure 1) constructed by 1,2-bis(8-hydroxyquinolin-2-yl)ethane-1,2-diol (bhqe) ligands fromsolvothermal in situ dehydrogenative coupling of hmq and the detailed studies of its peculiar static anddynamic magnetic properties(figure 2-4).
