A semi-analytical solution for transient radial flow in an unconfined-leaky-confined aquifer system
A new mathematieal model describing the transient drawdown response in an unCOnfined-1eaky-COnfined aquifer(ULCA)system pumped at a COnstant-flow rate is developed.The aquitard of a finite thiclness with storage lies below a pumped unCOnfined aquifer and above a COnfined aquifer.The Laplace-domain solutions for the drawdown distributions in the unCOnfined aquifer,aquitard,and COnfined aquifer are found by applying the double Laplace-Hankel transforms.The present solution of the drawdown in the unCOnfined aquifer can reduce to the Neuman solution(1972) for the case of a non-leaky unCOnfmea aquifer where the hydraulic COnductivity of the aquitard is very small and thereby negligible.The time-domain solutions are obtained numerically by the modified Crump algorithm.The present solutions are used to investigate the cfleets of the aquifer properties on the drawdown distributions in an ULCA system.The results show that the drawdowns in the unCOnfined aquifer and the aquitard are significantly influenced by the aquitard properties.
