Electronic Instrument Transformers for Automated Digital Substations

In the last decades the digitization of substations was based on digital point to point communication with serial protocols．An integrated automatisation is only possible with modem bus-systems．In the last years the Ethemet-bus-technology has succeeded to become the winner in the office-world as well as in industrial communication．Within the last ten years an international group of IEC developed the Standard IEC 61850，which is nOW world wide accepted．One reason for this acceptance is to be seen in the fact，that it incorporates advantages for the users as well as for the manufacturers．
