Police-Prosecution Relations in Japan

The criminal justice system differs from one country to another.I believe that the following points can be pointed out as the major characteristics of the Japanese criminal justice system. In Japan,judges, public prosecutors and vale attorneys have the same qualifi-cations. A person who wishes to become one of them must pass the bar examination).The bar examination is held once a year. The ratio of successful candidates is only a-rnund 3% at present, and the average age of successful candidates is approximately27 years old. Approximately 1,400 candidates passed the bar examination in 2002.The capacity in the future is expected to be 3 ,000 persons.
