Lawyers in the Pre-Trial Process
In this paper，I want to address some general issues concerning the involvement of lawyers in the pre-trial process as seen from a common law perspective in order to provide a greater understanding of the interconnectedness of the pre-trial and trial processes，procedural and evidential rules and the value systems that need to be taken into account in any reform process.I will try to place the discussion within a broader context that gives explicit recognition to values，principles and institutional design that sometimes are given insufficient consideration when such a reform process is under discussion and the impetus is getting something done.
