Role of Membrane Technology for Water Sustainability in Japan
The global climate change is the most significant issue for our future life.There are several prediction scenarios for the future global temperature increase.It is，however,a long term issue.The water shortage is strongly related to the global climate change.It is a rather short or middle term issue.To overcome the water shortage，there are several solutions which depend on a lot of factors such as the geological，economical and cultural situation.For any situation，recycling use of water is the most effective solution.In this paper,the present status and future trends of the water recycling in Japan is described.It deals with the water recycling practices in the leading edge technology filed such as the semiconductor or liquid crystal factory,and the huge office and commercial building.It also includes the recent development of membrane technology for the water recycling in Japan.
