Performance Evaluation of Reliable Transport Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks
This paper contributes toward the study of reliable data transport in wireless sensor networks. Reliable data transport problem in wireless sensor networks is a multifaceted problem influenced by the physical, MAC, network, and transport layers. Reliable Multi-segment Transport (RMST) protocol is a new transport layer protocol for Directed Diffusion and guarantees delivery and fragmentation/reassembly for applications that require them. In this thesis we performed different simulations to evaluate the performance of RMST protocol for wireless sensor network. More specifically, we investigate, study, and analyze two classes of transport reliability: (1) the reliable delivery of data under various error conditions; and (2) the reliability deliver of data when there are many sources and one sink. We further carried on our experiments using 802.11 MAC with RTS/CTS and without RTS/CTS. We evaluated the RMST protocol using different metrics such as the reliable packet delivery, delay and throughputs.
