DNAzyme-mediated inhibition of hepatitis C virus gene expression
Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection is a leading cause of chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma with more than 170 million people chronically infected worldwide. Although important aspects of HCV virology and immunology have become well known since the discovery of HCV in 1989,antiviral therapy is still suboptimal. Therefore, alternative therapeutic options are being explored.
