Seismic Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beam to Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Column Connections with Ring-Beam

In order to study the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete(RC)beam to concrete filled steel tubular(CFST)column connections with ring-beam,three specimens were experimentally studied under low cyclic loading. The influence on the sectional dimension of the ring-beam was discussed in detail.During tests, the displacement, stress, failure mode and energy dissipation capacity of the specimens were obtained and analyzed. In addition, the stress distribution of joints with and without ring-beam were respectively investigated using the general finite element analysis(FEA)software ABAQUS.Experimental and numerical results indicate that the damage of the joint with ring-beam started from the yield of longitudinal bar inside the RC frame beam; the CFST column was always in its elastic stage and no destructive damage could be seen in the RC ring-beam.Moreover,plastic-hinge came into being formed in the frame beam and hysteretic curves were often in a spindle shape.
