Logical Reasoning Ability Impact on STEM Achievement of Junior High School Students
It has been claimed that students' logical reasoning ability is significantly correlated with their academic achievement in traditional disciplines such as math,science,physics,etc.However,there is no good evidence for this relationship in STEM.With a research among 115 students of six grade,we investigated the impact logical reasoning ability,as measured by the Combined Raven's Test(CRT),has on STEM achievement,evaluated by both programming performance and hands-on practice performance.This study found that students' logical reasoning ability is significantly correlated with their programming performance,but not related to their hands-on practice performance.Therefore,it could not predict students' STEM achievement directly depend on logical reasoning ability.
