English Language Learners' Use of Self-regulatory Strategies for English Public Speaking Anxiety
This study explores English language learners' use of self-regulatory strategies for alleviating English public speaking anxiety in a blended language course at a comprehensive university in mainland China.A total of 53 non-English major sophomores participated in the study.The data was collected through learners' reflective journals.Content analysis was conducted to explore features of English language learners' English public speaking anxiety and their self-regulatory strategies in a computer-supported collaborative learning environment.Six self-regulatory strategies were identified,including cognitive,metacognitive(management),metacognitive(appraisal),social,affective and behavioral strategies.Based on these findings,practical implications for alleviating learners' English public speaking anxiety were provided at the end.
