In the last few decades we experienced the continuous procedure of urbanization,significant land use changes,a big loss or shrinkage of ecologically relevant green network and emerging problems of warming cli-mate in Hungary.We also experienced the growth of environmental data,the sprawl of data processing meth-ods,the renewal of technical equipment of remote sensing and the enlarging toolkit of digital landscape model-ling.In spite of this development we did not experience the effect of scientific results in raising awareness.We do not see the results and consequences in decisions,in governance,in general actions and in the life of Hun-garian society.We think that the relation among land use changes,green network and heat island effect is clearly ana-lyzed and documented.All of these factors,especially in Hungary,are obviously relevant for urban and rural landscapes as well.Nevertheless the results are not well communicated.A series of journal articles and inter-national reports do emphasize the significance of ecological network or urban heat island effect,but most of the people can only understand the relations from locally relevant visualizations.The level of communication is general and not personal,the examples are too global and not local.We experienced that visualization of inter-relations in city scale or in personal or local scale can help in understanding and making consequences.The key research task was to define the suitable analysis and visualization methods for the complex interrelation of land use,green network and heat island.
