Floristic Composition,Life Form and Chorology of Vascular Plants at
The Baitag Bogd Mountains,located in Khovd aimag at the southwestern-most corner of the country,is probably one of the least visited places in Mongolia.In this survey flora of Baitag Bogd Mountain has been studied.The plant collection method is the same as regional floristic studies.Collected plants were and determined as families,genera and species using indispensible references.Alphabetical list of taxa in this region was provided on the base of families,genera and species.In this research 54 family,213 genera and 454 species were identified.The major plant families that contributed in the formation of vegetation of the area in question were Asteraceae(53 species)followed by Poaceae(28 species),Fabaceae(39 species),Brassicaceae(29 species),Amaranthaceae(44 species)while twenty one families each was represented by only one species.The hemicryptophytes had maximum number of species(64%),followed by chaemophytes(12%),phanerophyte(10%)while the least frequently life form class was therophytes and cryptophytes.Chorological characteristic of the recorded flora showed that Central Asian elements constitute 21.5%and Iran Turan 19.6%of the total flora.
