Stability of the Dispersed Particle Gel Three-phase Foam in the Presence of Oil

Dispersed particle gel(DPG)three-phase foam is a novel foam flooding system.roam stability is a crucial factor influencing oil displacement efficiency.Crude oil has a significant effect on foam stability. The stability of DPG three-phase foam in the presence of oil was evaluated in two ways:Foaming before adding oil and foaming after adding oil.The morphology of oil in the foam was observed using a micro-scopic imaging system. The results showed that the contact mode between oil and foam has significant in-fluence on the stability of foam. The foam half-life reduced in both foaming ways in the presence of oil. With the increase of oil content, the foam half-life of foaming before adding oil remained the same. While the foam half-life of foaming after adding oil continued to reduce with the increase of oil content. On the whole, the foam of foaming after adding oil is much more stable than that of foaming before adding oil.The small oil droplets adhering to the interface formed the pseudoemulsion film which stabilized foam, and the continuous oil phase on the interface was the main cause of the instability of the foam.DPG parti-cles prevent small oil droplets from coalescing and spreading, which makes the DPG three-phase foam more stable than the traditional foam in the presence of oil.
