The Significance of Art in Human Cultivation
(0) The artistic expression is an act of revealing one's images or thoughts.It is only by expression that one's self appears objective.Here,we can recognize the significance of self-discovery in artistic expression.To realize oneself through artistic activity,in a basic sense,is to have a relationship or conversation with oneself.The artistic expression is,inevitably,a meeting between oneself and others.Further,we are impressed by the depth of nature we have never known since we saw a landscape painting by an artist.Nature was as though it had not existed since it had not known its depth.In this way,artistic expression is awakening oneself,finding human being,and discovering the world.Therefore,the problem of expression in art is basically human cultivation.Aesthetic emotion of art is not just a delicate sensibility like feeling sensitive,but basically an emotion of human depth.By reminding and encouraging the power of expression in art,human beings have a real world of their own.In artistic activities,human beings open the possibility of them,objectify it and verify it cognitively,through acting in observation and observing in action with all one's might.Such specific self-discovery and self-cultivation of man can be called creativity at its source.
