Metabonomics in the toxicity studies of traditional Chinese medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)has played a significant role through a developing progress of diseases for thousands years,and caught attentions all over the word recently.At the same time,the toxicity of TCM has come into notice as well.Thus,investigating the toxicity of TCM has become essential and many methods have been employed.Recent decades,it is metabonomics that has been novelly used in the area of toxicity study of TCM.As a branch of systems biology,metabonomics possesses significant advantages and potency in studying toxicity of TCM.In this review,metabonomics was briefly talked;some examples about nephrotoxicity,hepatotoxicity,and cardiotoxicity were quoted;and also,some discussions and ideas were presented in the end.
