Developments in the dual-feed rotor spinning unit and new research perspectives
The dual-feed rotor spinning concept has evolved during the last decade,from simple experimental rig to a fully functional unit.There is still further work needed to turn the concept to suit commercial use.This paper presents the overview of the latest developments and an outlook of possible research opportunities and challenges.From its invention a decade ago,the dual-feed rotor spinning unit has research ranging for spinning parameter characterization,design modification,provision of account for different fiber material and numerical and computational modeling.These works have been conducted to reveal insights on the functionality and operation of the system.The next research prospects could be directed to understanding fiber-air interaction in the dual feed and possibility of discovering an optimum positioning of the dual feed channels.
