Directional backlight naked-eye 3-D display towards glasses-less Virtual Reality
The naked-eye 3-D display have been in the market for almost 20 years,but consumers are still taking a wait-and see attitude because the existing conventional lenticular and barrier based technologies do not provide satisfactory user experience in terms of display size,resolution,viewing comfort and fidelity of 3-D images.In this paper,we would propose our directional backlight 3-D display-a new kind of naked-eye virtual realities(VR)which re-ignites the interest to 3-D market.Our system adopts several unique technologies:spatial and sequential hybrid control,continuous waved backlight,linear Fresnel lens array for directional backlight illumination and rapid eye tracking algorithm,delivering its brand new immersive visual experience to the users with full-panel-resolution 3-D images to each viewing eye,global low crosstalk over the entire liquid crystal screen and large viewing angle.It is claimed that the naked-eye VR has already reached the goggle-assisted quality.
