Study on extinguishment mechanism of base bleed propellant under rapid depressurization

  To study the extinguishment mechanism of AP/HTPB base bleed propellant under rapid depressurization, the visible semi-closed combustion simulation experiment system was designed to reproduce the extinguishment behavior of AP/HTPB base bleed propellant.The changing laws of the pressure and the temperature during the combustion-extinguishment process were obtained.Based on the experiment result, a simplified one-dimensional depressurization-extinguishment model was established.Using the critical extinguishment temperature as a criterion, the extinguishment behavior of the base bleed propellant under rapid depressurization was simulated.The calculated extinguishment delay time is in good agreement with the experimental result.
